Guys, I want some dual exhaust real bad, but my question is how much louder or better would it sound to have two flowmaster 30 series than just a one in two out 30 series. Teh one in two out would be easier on my wallet but I don't wanna compromise sound.

If you have cats that are in good shape, I would recommend going with a single 40 Series with single in dual out configuration. I honestly think you will find the 30 series too quiet if you have catalytic converters on your ride. I had a 1986 f-250 4x4 with no cats and 40 series flowmasters. It had a nice musclecar like sound. I thought it was pretty loud until I heard it at a truck pull after I sold it. It got spanked by the glasspack crowd. One more thing to consider is whether or not you plan on ever doing further mods to your Bronc's motor. If so I would bust the wallet open further and go with true dual. I understand your situation, and think that you would be happy either way. That is enough typing for one night, I just got back from the Iola Wisconsin car show. Lots of cars and women to see. Peace out

Well my bronc only has one cat on it but it is getting removed. I was wondering though, isnt the 30 series Flowmaster's loudest muffler. I guess I just want my truck to sound really deep and powerful and then sound mean as hell when I open her up. It has a 351 in it. I might just go glasspack!

One more option you have with the cat removal is the use of some Delta FORCE (not flow) race mufflers. They make a single chamber that is the same price (or around it) as the 40 Series that has a positivly wicked sound, really screams on the throttle but a much more pleasent sound than a glass pack. I don't think you would be dissapointed with that muffler, as that is exactly what I am doing to my 1990 F-150 down the road. Two single chamber delta forces with no cats and truly duals!! Guys, allot of people just describe flowmaster mufflers by chambers. Like two chamber, three chamber, which is the loudest?? What series mufflers are what chambers?? Is the 40 series a two chamber??? Also, anyone ever used aluminized piping for their exhaust, it cuts down on rust very well.

I dont want straight pipes because it sounds TOO TOO loud, not deep and powerful, just LOUD!! So anyway, what is teh 40 series, is it a 2 chamber muffler?? I will definitely be going TRUE dual though.

Here's Flowmaster's link.
Flowmaster
I'm running a 40 series Delta Flow with 3" single in and dual 2-1/2" outlet. Sounds just like their add. Love it!
I went with the Delta Flow to cut down on interior resonance.
The Delta Flow is quieter on the inside, but the same outside. They have sound charts on the website as well.
I do like to carry on a conversation on the highway, so didn't want it too loud.
Course, if I'm by myself I couldn't hear the exhaust anyway over the tunes/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif.
Incidentally, see what it would cost to get a custom y-pipe made. Big difference over stock.
The shop made 2-5/16" pipes off the JBA's and merged them into a 24" long 2-1/2" - 3" y-pipe collector, then a straight 3" pipe into the muffler.
Picked up 1.5 mpg with the setup. Wasn't dissappointed with that at all.
Good hunting.

Click on "Flowmaster Products" and go to page 2.
There's the specs. Looks like 40 series are the loudest.
30's are deeper. Be nice if they had some .wav files to hear.
It's that "noticeable interior resonance" that was scaring me. That's why I went with the Delta Flow.

When it says interior resonance I assume it means interior of the vehicle? When the exhaust started falling off my parent's suburban they told us to go get it fixed, and boy did we. We had dual glasspacks put on and it's loud as sh%$. But with the windows up at around 2000 rpm it's like having 5000 watts of subs in that damn thing, it's LOUD. I like it though because it's the best sounding suburban I've ever heard, especially for a late model.

Ya know guys, I was thinkin of puttin gon dual glasspacks instead of the flows. My buds Z71 has just one splitting into two pipes, and it sounds deep and mean at idel but sounds like the gates of hell are opening when he gets on it, they have a totally diff sound than flows. Flows are really deep at idle and start but don;t really roar like glasspacks, Any of yall have glasspacks on your broncos??

The only Gibson system I've heard was on a buddy's Dakota with a 318. It did have a fairly deep drone to it.
Personally, I like the "rap" I get out of the Flowmaster between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. Knocks the paint off the gaurdrails./wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif
Gibson's probably cost about 3 times as much as a comparable Flowmaster setup.
