Ok What would be the dream truck that nissan could come out with. would it be a solid axle, dually? A supercharged V8 lightning killer? you build it. I just want to see how everybodies opinion differate. I am going to think long and hard about what I would like, It's definatly going to have a working radio, thats a fact!!! So build it from the wheels to the roof, what do you want. By the way, this does not mean your going to get it!!!

I think it would have to be a 720 with a custom fabbed long travel ifs and with 33in tires. The motor would be a 300zx twin turbo for plenty of high speed power with ample torque(a whole lot more than the z24 even though it is a highend motor) for low speed stuff too. It would also have to have all the necessary roll cage etc. for high speed desert safety.

95' Pathfinder with convertable hardtop and built-in roll-cage, small block V-8, dual exhaust, dual T-cases (200:1), with both standard & automatic transmission, 5:10 gears, OEM Nissan detroit lockers front & rear(Hahahaha)Currie Custom Dana 60 front & rear with warn full-floater axle kits and trusses. Front & rear coil-over 4 link suspension, dual shocks front and rear RS9000's, 38" Swampers (boggers)ah man I could go on dreaming all damn day......

Well, I have to go one better. I realize that Nissan can only go so far in it's "from the factory" modifications. I am currently making the truck that nissan needs to produce for me, I will then finish the modifications myself. My dream truck will appear on my personal site later tonight, as soon as I finish "building" it. Along with the truck's pic will be the list of specs.

Ok, the pics are up :)

side note; When my roommate saw what I was making in the photo editor he promptly said "I am never letting you NEAR my truck!" :)

I should have specified set up from factory. we could dream forever on the mods but I am just curios about how we could all would be happy about how they could come out of the box. Devinchi had the right idea. Great pic too, (you gotta teach me how to do that one day.
here is mine:
Crew-cab with a full lenght bed, An infinity like v8 with a relativly flat torque curve at least 280 or more or a diesel option, choice of transmisions. 3 gear choices in the T-case high, low and low low(4:1 or better) able to fit 32's stock and 33's by just removing a mud flap. no rubbing at full stuff!!! choice of dual rear wheels or single. A choice between a 12" travel ifs or a offroad package sporting a solid axle with coils. A working stereo!!!!! thats about it from the factory. am i asking to much from them? anyway lets hear some more ideas..

Okay, I'll bite. We're dreamin' here, so we can invent parts as we go. With that in mind, I'm going for the ultimate street legal mud racer. We'll start with a Hardbody shell (fiberglass bedsides & front clip) & squeeze in a 4.5L Infinity V-8. Naturally, I'll have to be bored & stroked to at LEAST 5 litres, & the compression needs to be around 13:1. The cam will be just mild enough to pull 15" of vacuum at 800 RPM's - probably talkin' 400-450 HP. We'll have a 4-speed automatic geared 2.25:1, 1.50:1, 1.00:1, .75:1. The T-case will be a light-weight, aluminum cased, gear driven unit (like the old Toyota T-case) weighing about 40 lbs & geared 2.00:1 in low (better for durability). Front axle is going to be a solid Dana 44 & the rear a Dana 50 - 4-wheel discs. The front will be open & the rear will have a Detroit - both geared 5.13:1. Suspension will be coils & 4-link in the front with long leaf springs in the rear & the truck should have sort of a droopy look to the rear suspension. Fenders will be opened to make room for the tires & the whole thing will be kept as low as possible to the ground. Tires will be Q78's - TSL's or Buckshots in the front & Boggers in the rear. No, make that 36X9.50's in the front with the same tread pattern as the 34" TSL. We'll want a wheelbase around 105-110", regular cab with a pair of lightweight buckets, a cage, & 5-point harnesses. Manual rack & pinion steering, crank windows, heat & a/c optional. No frills, no extras, no tailgate, radio, or rear bumper. 15X7 carbon fiber rims with beadlocks should about round out the entire package. Weight needs to be below 3,400 lbs. That oughta 'bout do it, I guess /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

Don't need to dream too long.

A factory truck will never fill your dreams for a practical trail machine--
I would never take a new $$$ shiny truck on the trail---
Find an old truck that is cheap, but still intact--------------------------------

Here is how you D O it.

Get a 720

Do a Toyota 8" solid front or a Dana 44
Do a rear axle swap if you want too--- Toyota or Dana 44
(Why not a D60 or D70--- unless going bigger than 35" tires with Rubicon type driving, you do not need more weight/strength.)

And it you ran 35" x 12.5 tires there is a lot you can do WITHOUT lockers cuz you are so light in that 720.

A Chevy V6 or Buick V6
(These engines have low end torque but are lighter than V8s-- the Buick only weighs 50 pounds more than a 2.4L Z)

Granny Tranny--- sm420 etc:
Gives you lower crawl than an old Millitary Jeep--- Super strong too.

Keep your Nissan T-case.

You still have a light truck--- 65 to 1 crawl-- Good enough for moderate rock--- Power for deep mud.

It is affordable too.

You can lift easy to fit any tire up to 38s---
Lockers easy to find

Due to divorced T-case location driveline angles are going to do just fine.

Infact Jeeps and Toyota Trucks suffer from TOO steep driveline angles due to their married
T-case configuration---- Nissan 720s do not!

So Build your Truck--- just don't dream about it----

Hmm, perfection. Ok simple coz I am not as picky as the rest of you. Must have at least 13" of clearance and come stock with 33" tires. Suspension should be an IFS front with that 12" of articulation mentioned earlier. This will allow daily travel as well, not that Chris can't drive his to and fro.
Hmm, the Infinity V8, rear locker and at least a front limited slip option. Available with a winch bumper option. Enough interior room to deal with
my height (THIS IS WHY I HATE TOYOTA, I DON'T FIT!). Continued spartan but well placed interior design (Nissan is good at this).
Low gears please! Under armor on 4x4 option. hmm, that would about do it.

Tex, I was with you until you said no radio. just for that you are not aloud to play this game anymore!! just kidding. I want to add locking diffs to my dream truck and also see nissan back it up with a 100,000 mile warrenty. anyone else? Chris? I know your mind is working overtime on it, so how about making it a mini series instead of making a post as big as the book war & peace.

Yeah, I figured you'd jump all over that one given the text of your post (which put the idea in my brain, BTW)./wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif I'll just check the radio delete box & you can check the "super high fidelity, rock thumpin', 40 disc, audio/video experience" box. And to the post above (can't remember who since I can only see one at a time while replying) I too have trouble fitting in my Toyota (with my helmet on) & I'm 5' 8"!!! So, I'm with ya there!

give me a cassette deck and some good speakers and i am happy. But I am happy to say that my emergency has been taken care of. You can all go back to doing whatever you normaly do. I know that was close and you all were worried, I know a few of you even lost sleep over it. But none of you donated to my relief fund? Anyway, i will find someother way to annoy you all.
