Good points on setting up a truck for the races you'll actually go to. Was that the April or May issue? I'd like to get one, I don't subscribe. Doesn't sound like the author has a real world view of the sport of mud racing. NMRO is kind of a joke for us in the lower classes. I still race at the Jambos, but mostly to see all the trucks, racing, partying, etc. I don't know when the last time an honestly stock, street driven truck won class 2 at an NMRO event (if ever). Holloway is a friend of mine. His truck runs strong and consistent (this should mean a lot coming from a Chevy die hard). We've raced together many times and I'd say 400 is a modest number.
