Forget about the mods and spend a little extra on the initial purchase in order to get a 4.0 six cylinder and shop around for a possible D44 rear. I would also recommend a hard top.
If you get this configuration you will have a very capable vehicle from the get go and can spend your $ on school needs. The 32's wont kill the D35, but a locker most likely will. You will be surprised at what you can do with open difs.
If you still want to mod, search here again for a way to make homemade coil spacers, another money saver. This will give you enough to fit 32s. Drive the Jeep like it is, as you get used to it, you will learn what areas you want to modify and can take it slow. Good Luck with the Jeeep and in school.
