distributor cap replacement

How often should I replace my cap. It has been a long time since I cracked one (6 yrs). Thought I might need to get a new distributor cap and rotor with this tune up. I mean those things wear out don't they?

Unless its cracked or there is serious errosion on the electrodes inside...don't bother...but if your really in the mood to change something...put in the HEI dist...that is money well spent
