You should be able to find all the outer stuff you need off from a '77 - ? jeep from any junk yard. The Early CJ had the break bracket that was bolted along with the spindle. I think '80 on up bolted to part cast into the knuckles. I know my '77 looks as if it should easily bolt onto any D30 but don't qoute me on that. I took my breaks off from my '77 axle and used them on an axle from an '80 d30 after everything on the inside of the '77 axle decided to break, not even the carrier came out in one piece.

Good luck.

Yes, there is such a conversion. Did it to my '75. You will need the backing plate off of a mid-70's 1/2 ton pickup or Blazer and caliper from the same along with all of the hardware that goes with it. You have to do some grinding on the caliper and steering knuckle so that the caliper will slide on its pins. You will also need the thick Jeep rotors as well as new bearing hubs. The old drum hubs look the same, but the disc ones are machined so that they will work with the rotors. I used my old master cylinder and proportioning valve and just removed the residual pressure valve from the master. It works pretty good, but I think a different master cylinder would work better. Still working on that part. I have an article from an old issue of Four Wheeler that does a pretty good job describing the process. If you would like a photocopy of it, leave me a personal message on this site with your address or e-mail and I could send it out. It's not a hard conversion, but it does take a little bit of time. I think I spent around $400 with all new parts except for the backing plates. That's about half of what Stainless Steel Brakes wants for their kit and uses the exact same parts (I quizzed them about what their parts are from). It makes a huge difference over the drums, especially when they are wet.
