I have a '97 Dodge Ram 1500 with the Chrysler 9 1/4 rear axle (posi) I need to find the torque specs for the carrier bearing caps, and any other tips any of you may have on replacing the carrier bearings. The truck has 38K miles and the bearings have failed...... I have never abused the truck and only tow a 16' fishing boat!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!! [email protected]

Don't have the numbers, but just letting you know that it is not a Dana axle. It is a Chrysler 9-1/4". That might help you find what you are looking for.

Remember to put the caps back on the same way they came off and if theres any shims to put them back exactly the same too, the bearing need to be pressed on usually, the old just cut off with a thin cut off grinding wheel for ease. Also add the limited slip additive to the gear lube. Make sure its clean of all debris when it goes back in. good luck!
