anybody know what jeeps carried the amc diesel. How hard would it be to but in a cj(5/6/7/8) frame?

It wasn't an amc diesel, it was a renault (or puegot) they were partners with amc before chrysler bought them, I'm pretty sure the diesels only came in cherokees and very early cherokees at that 84-86. not sure about adapting them to a cj

their are at least three different diesel that have been offered in the cj's, perkins in the 60's, renault in the early 80's, and i have heard that a diesel engine is available now for jeeps sold in europe.

Current European Jeep diesel's are made by "MV" which is an Italian company.
It could be that this engine is used in several different cars...

There is a 4-cylinder 2.5 liter and a 5 cylinder 3.3 liter (which is basically the 4 banger with an added cylinder)

Both engines uses turbo's and power is about 120-150 hp, with lots of torque.

(My local dealer's chief mechanic hasn't to much positive to say about them, other than that they work ok....)

On http://www.moller.no click "biler" (cars), Jeep, you will find the spec.

"Effekt" = horsepower, "Dreimoment" = torque (and it's in Newton-Meter...)
