Well, I finally opened the hood on that righthand 1977 CJ I bought last week, It's a inline 4 cyl diesel...HMMMM
I don't see any tag on it yet, so I don't know what it is for sure, interesting tho., I don't know if jeep offered a diesel or not. This jeep is so strange I may have to keep it. : )

Thx Dirt Dog... Yea it's complete, looks original ...possible restoration project I guess.
Maybe I'll oil it up and put it away for later, it might make a good dingy for the bus. : )

None that I know of. I'm really not sure of what tranny's they offered in them with the diesel. Matter of fact...I've never seen a factory diesel jeep.(cj/yj/tj) Thats why I was hoping/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif that dirtrod might want to donate his to me./wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif

A couple years ago I saw a CJ-10 come up for sale at a Federal Salvage sale and it had a Nissan Diesel mated to a TF 727 with w NP208(Not too sure on the T-Case). The T-Case had a output yoke on the drivers side without a drive shaft (or front axle for that matter) So I guess there may be parts in the country for That set up.

http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/engine/perkins192.html Here is a page from the ORC website with info on the CJ5 diesel. Only made for four years. It doesn't exactly sound like a powerhouse, but it does make pretty good torque. I would bet that a bellhousing would be hard to come by, and you would probably be pretty limited in the tranny department too.

I have 4 of the CJ10s, your correct about the setup, its the NP 207 transfer case with no front drive shaft connected to the output. They are very hevy duty. The transfer cases are put in 4LO and they have no shift linkage to shift between ranges. The Nissan SD33 is a pretty nice engine, and they made it in a turbo version, which is a easy upgrade just by changing out the exhaust manifold and some small additions. Parts are what is hard to come by. As most of these are puchased for the engine, and rear and the rest is scrapped. I have found some resources for the SD33 at heavy equipment places as alot of these engine made it into ither equipment the power output is not very impressive at 92 HP and somewhere in the mid hundreds for torque, the turbo put out 101 HP and 175 torque.

'95 Cherokee; '86 CJ-7, HEI upgrade
'84 CJ-10a, running stock; '84 CJ-10a, running stock; '84 CJ-10a, running stock; '85 CJ-10a, needs alt & vacuum pump.
