Last weekend while heading up a nasty section of a trail, the Bronco stalled out. I started it up again, and tried to power out of a tough spot, but there was no throttle response and it died again. I popped the hood and carefully got out to give a quick visual, hoping for something obvious...and there it was. The air intake tube had popped off right after the air meter! It also pulled the top of the air box off. I reconnected it and was back in business.

Is that tube notoriously too short to accept the amount of movement the motor mounts allow? It's possible that the clamp wasn't totally snug, or that the motor mounts are bad, but what's the feedback on that tube?

What tube are you referring too? After the air meter...is yours a '96 with MAF? If you're just talking the air inlet tubes, I have never had that happen, plenty of give there.
