Hey Everyone,
I'd like to use diamond plating on portions of my bumpers. However, I can't find any shops that sell diamond plating sheets. Everyone sells pre-made kits etc..

Any idea where I can buy diamond plating? I'd be looking for a couple of sheets that roughly a foot wide and about 6 feet long.

Try looking in the yellow pages for a metal supply place. If you can't find that, then maybe try to find a welding supply place, or even a local welder who could tell you where to buy metal.

I'm guessing McMaster-CaRR or MSC Supply catalogs might have the stuff. How were you planning on forming it -- welding??

Thanks skynyrd8. I called a few local shops without luck (they couldn't even offer a referal). I even seemed a bit confused as to what I was looking for /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif.

My web search did turn up one possibility that I'm hoping to call within a day or so.

Hey athlonaj,
I'm finding that trying to buy raw material in small quanities can be tough /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif. I'm trying to find small portions of ABS plastic too, that's turning out to be a problem as well. I guess it just isn't worth it for many companies to spend the time on a single consumer.

I'll keep looking though, it can't be that difficult

Hey Chris,
I've never heard of "McMaster-CaRR or MSC Supply", hmmmmm.. I'm on my way to a web search engine to check this out. This sounds promising /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif.

As for forming it, (to be very honest) I haven't a clue. I've given it thought, but I've never worked with diamond plating before. I figured as a last resort (if I can't do it), I have a friend that has worked with this plate before.

Where in the northeast usa are you? I am in CT, and I can think of a few local places, and the guy in the building next door to my work runs a machine shop, so I'm sure he knows where to get the stuff in CT.
