Decisions Decisions which truck to keep.

OK I need to make a choice. I am in possesion of 3 trucks and can only keep one.

93 GMC 2500 SLE extended cab 4x4 with at least an 8" lift and what looks like lots of Pro Comp stuff. It has about 130k on it. It seems to run great, has no cats only a flowmaster and no apparent mods otherwise. The transmission will probably need a rebuild in the next 10k. Body is decent needing only some minor work including a passenger door(which I have allready purchased). No rust. Interior is questionable, good dash, torn up driver seat and badly stained carpet. Door panels are usable, but not great.

96 GMC 1500 SLE Z71 4x4 short bed regular cab. 170k. It has no lift, new alternator, new a/c, new waterpump, new brakes including every hydraulic component and new pads and shoes, rebuilt tranny, rebuilt transfer case, rebuilt rear end, new u joints. It has super clean interior. A few battle scars on the outside, but not terrible.

99 Chevrolet 1500 extended cab 4x4 Z71 SLE. In near perfect condition with 169k. NO mods.

Which one should I keep??

By the way, whichever ones I dont keep will be for sale. The 93 and 96 are on my website at www.aacautosales.com in inventory. The business is pretty much closed and I have to sell off my toys that I had planned on keeping.

Thanks guys

well.....i like the 96.

the 94 has the old style interior which i have cme to loathe after owning a 96+ truck. the newer interior is much more comfortable, and easier to operate. the 99+ trucks that i have worked on have had problems with the drive-line in various places.
With the 96 all you really have to worry about is the thermal actualtor for the front axle (can be replaced with mechanical version ). and also the coolant connectors on the passenge side head. aside from that, i am a firm beliver i nthe 88-98+ chevies. solid body, with classic lines. steel bumbers. still the tried and true 350 with the benefits of modern fuel injection. granted, i reverted to a carb on my rebuild, but thats because i like to tweak things. you won't be terribly dissappointed with the 99 but i'd keep the 96 if it were me. having a 94 right now....i would gladly trade for a 96 in similar nondition.

good luck

So you think the benefit of the 96 body and better interior outweighs the fact that the 93 is an extended cab and allready has a ton of lift mods? I am also leaning toward this one. The advantage of the 93 is that it has so much money allready spent on the lift and it allready has a 14 bolt rear(been down that road with the 10 bolt) It is also a 2500.

Personaly I like the 96 interior much better myself too. Will the lift parts from the 93 fit the 96?

I bet you have better luck selling the Z71s without losing your a$$. In my opinion, the only benefit of a short truck is off the road. I guess for me it would just depend on where I was going to be the most. You're giong to throw money at all of them sooner or later. I'd just hate it if my truck didn't have what it took to get the real work done.

OK so here is what I will do. I am going to put them all on ebay and whatever one I have left I will keep. Leave it up to the buyers. If they all sell I will find another one, I guess.

I may keep the 93 off til I see what the other ones will sell for. The lift kit has got to be worth close to the value of the truck, RIGHT? I like the way it looks and drives. Very stable for a truck sitting this high. You really cant tell it has this much lift by driving it.

I appreciate the input. Will tell everyone what happens.

i guess i missed the ext cab part. the 93 sounds better now. after getting my first reg cab truck...it wont happen again. not very comfortable to drive in at all. but i do a lot of 12+ hour trips. i guess any truck will get uncomfortable that long. i just remember my ext cab being much more comfy. and it IS a 3/4T
