So what do they have that's deeper than 4.88? 5.13? lower?

i have seen 5.13 dana 44 gears... they are kinda small.. very few teeth.. i have never actually seen lower.. this guy was running 40's under a toyota and he had a 44 in the front

John, the only lower gears I've heard of for the Dana 44 are 5.13 and 5.38. That doesn't mean there aren't others, just that I haven't
seen them.

That works for me. I knew that there were 5.13, and "thought" I'd seen something a little lower than that. 5.38 sounds like what I remember.

John, I did some looking around and on ORC in the axle tech section it list ring and pinion ratios for the D44 all the way out to 5.89.
It also says that not all ratios are available for all versions of thr D44.

5.89 is the deepest i have seen standard rotation.
6.14 is the deepest i have seen reverse rotation.

do note that the heads on the pinion on these are VERY small.

So 5.89???? Wow, that's some deep gears. As for the small teeth, I can't imagine them being much smaller than the 4.88 gears for the D30.

With gears that deep, even my 4 banger could turn 35" tires.
