How are you supposed to remove the shift forks? Do I take them out first and then remove the front aluminum housing or take the
housing off with the shift rods still attached? I already screwed one of them up, hopefully I can fix it though.

The shift forks have a set screw, you need to loosen it and the rods pull out.

One other thing, the dana 300 has to be taken apart and put back together sequentially, if not done in the proper order it is impossible. Follow the step by step in a good shop manual, that is what I did when I put the TeraLow kit in, it was easy following the directions.
