While waiting on finishing up a new engine for my YJ, I was considering getting a full Roll cage. Not a bolt on, but a custom made roll cage. Does anyone have any experiences with custom built roll cages, worth the expense?? I live in Atlanta, GA and the only site I have found so far has been that of Essentially Off Road at :http://www.EssentiallyOffRoad.com.
Any personal experiences with custom builds would be greatly appreciated, or if you know of a shop closer to Atlanta.
Thanks.

you will be much happier if you get a good custom rollcage built! and sometimes they arent much more $ than a bolt on (sometimes they are a lot more $) on my 73', i had the guy make me a front hoop that conected to the original rear bar with four tubes across the roof (wich make great spots to mount switches and CB's and stuff) and tie the front bar, through rust holes in the floor, to the frame. next, he is adding on to that buy welding in runners accross the floor (from front to back and side to side) to mount my seats and harnesses to the cage. after that, box the rear of the cage (for the passengers) and tie the rear into the frame. I cant tell you how much safer I feel with a good cage over my head! its definitly worth the money. just make sure you see some of the welders previous work before you give him the job.

Billy Clanton Racing in Jonesboro or Forrest Park built my custom 6 point cage on my 80 CJ 5 and did a fantastio job. Give them a call.
