CTO hose routing

I'm the 432nd owner of an 83 CJ-7 with 258, w/ carter BBD, without the comp. on the back of the carb.

I'm trying to figure out the routing of the hose from my CTO swicth...

Right now, I've got EVERY port on my CTO plugged. I believe that most of the vaccuum and EGR controls have been disposed of by the last owner.

Looking in the engine bay, I can't find most of the required pieces.(TVS, chk vlvs., acel/decel sol., etc.)

All I've got is my canister(w/ the 4 hoses), CTO switch, and EGR(which may not be working)

Here is an attempted diagram....

____________Intake Manifold_______________
.
..
.. <CTO Switch

Let's call the CTO ports: 1
2 3
4 5

What is the bare minimum of vaccuum hoses required to run properly and efficiantly?

Thanks for reading,

Tim

I've got that diagram in my Chilton's manual, which I've been trying to decipher...Becauce I've got a limited amount of vaccuum related parts under my hood.

From that diagram....Is there anyway I can find what I NEED to have hooked up?

Also, Where would I be able to find my TVS switch? It seems to be hiding.

On the diagram, what is the part marked "M", just under the EGR valve?

Thanks,

Tim
I no longer have the stock air cleaner, as I am the 432nd owner of this rig...I've got no idea who did what with what.

As of right now, I've only got my PCV valve/hoses and my dist. advance hooked up.

all ports on my CTO switch are plugged.
Is this a problem?
My engine seems to run relativly fine now, she's got a hard time getting going in the mornings when it's really cold.

Would hooking up all of those plugged CTO ports improve the overall driveability and performance of my engine?
Or is it only needed for emissions law?

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks for that clear explanation Texas1al...I'm not gonna worry about my CTO/EGR issues for now...as SC has no emssions laws and now that I know it won't affect performance.

I'm gonna try to hook up my dist. advance to the mainfold vac. tommorrow. I'll let you know how she runs.

Thanks,

Tim
