We had a real close encounter with a tree this weekend.Me the wife and the kids were out playing in the creek.(very nice pretty day) WEll, I decided that it would be fun to try and climb this small hill.On my 3rd run up the thing, (it was kinda slick with mud) I backed up just a little more than the previous runs, and heard a big rip/smack!! sound..To my disbelief , the was tree limb stuck right in between the kids.As I came back to gett a better run, the top of the tree beside the climb decided to fall out.It came crashing through the soft top/between the bow and the main bar/ and stabbing into the car seats where they were touching each other...It scared us to death!!! Had it benn over a few inches either way, it would have killed or very seriously injured one of our kids..WE had to get the saw out to cut the tree out of the jeep!! I think we had an angel that liked wheelin in there that day....Peace!!!

The kids didnt think much of it till my wife started crying, then they started...We had a big group hug after that!!! I never saw the limb obove me till it was said and done...The ice had trees snapped all over the place, but this one eluded me till it was too late..I cant believe I didnt blow a brake line as hard as I was holding it down trying to keep the jeep from moving till the kids were out...WE went on to have a very enjoyable day...untill I blew a rear lockout...I get to call Warn today and see about some new parts I guess...(the kids watched on that one!!) Just when the wife gets comfortable with taking the kids!!! I guess I need to get some expanded metal and line the top of the full cage now!! I never thought of that happening...The kids have a better roll cage in the back then I do up front!!

Sometimes, we forget how fragile and temporal our lives really are. It dosen't take much for a very secure life or lifestyle to become devastated. Especially when so much of our own happiness and fullfillment is found in other people. We can't help it. Once we start having kids.....well, you get the point.

Wow, very scary. Glad to hear your kids wern't hurt. You just don't expect something like that to happen. I like the hug thing too! I'm sure you will be giving the man up stairs a little extra thanks tonight. I too hope your family will go wheeling with you again. (I bet they will!)

Experience always comes right after you need it.

Glad everyone came out ok. Your kids did have a sort of angel looking over them, you. You are the one that installed a roll cage to protect them. Pat yourself on the back. Thanks again for the Detroit locker and gears i bought from you, they where in perfect shape.

Scary, scary, scary. I've been wheeling with my kids for over 12 years, stuff like that is ALWAYS in the back of my mind. I know the feeling. A couple years ago me and the kids were wheeling in the hills a block from the house, I tried to get up a big rock, slid sideways and back, a juniper branch came thru the back window and almost got my youngest one right in the head.
