stuff.Kerosene took a jump of .39 cents in one increase to 1.45 a gal.,diesel jumped 35cents at one increase to 1.54 a gal.Just talked to my
trusted gas pumper and he said the higher ups are saying within another month, kero, diesel just might double ! and gas to take another jump as well

Re: cost of fuel\'s

Here in Western Wisconsin, the price jumped $0.11 last week. But, I guess I'm just too darned stupid to understand the complex world of price fixing... opps.. price gouging.... darn I just can't seem to get that word right....

Re: cost of fuel\'s

The way I get it is the Mid east is holding down production to keep prices
up. They have tryed to do this in the past and I guess failed???
Well any way a barrel of oil is like $30?? I think and this is or close to
a top price has ever been??? Its high priced anyway.
Re: cost of fuel\'s

My oil man called me just before the first of the year. He asked if I wanted to fill up since he was in the neighborhood. He had many people who figured that they needed a full tank for Y2K (which would do them little good w/o power.....but). He then calls me two days ago and asked if I wanted to top it off while he still had $1.45 fuel oil (he doesn't "store" or contract for set lots of oil ......he "floats" with the market) because the new price was going to be higher. I pulled up the "CASH OIL" prices on the 'net and sure enough the price had JUMPED over a quarter in a couple of days. Local gas prices are around $1.35 for regular but local gas wars make it available for $1.05. Was the cold snap THAT BAD?.....or is this some "global demand" type thingie......it's great for my Exxon-Mobil stock.....should break $86/share.

Re: cost of fuel\'s

Just a added note, last fall i priced kero from my local guy,he was selling it for 68 cents a gal.now 1.45 ,sheesh
i guess it is the fixing, gouging.I read bits to about the cold here in the east, well it sure hasnt been in Md except for this last week.
I saw temps in the 60's in January here, and earlier winter was way above normal too, trying to recoup their losses now i spose?
Not much in price wars here,i have about 10 stations in 15 miles and they all are within a few pennies of each other. But the rubber ball
prices,1.17 one day and 1.30 the next,up down up down...Anyone have a heated cab for a street bike!? Hey there's a idea! produce a
street legal version of a ATV 4 wheeler, heated cab,am/fm/cd,4 whl drive too of course, oops was thinking again, sorry Mr Bill

ok,just to lighten up the frustration and anger,a lil sometin that i got in a email,

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have
produced enough sound energy to heat only one cup of coffee.
.(Hardly seems worth it!)

If you fart consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is
produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif Here on the Jest Coast where they produce porno, homos, and yes, OIL....the price of cheap gasoline has been 1.39 ALL YEAR in '99, and got higher for a while. One of the stations up here in the woods rubbed up against two bucks a gallon for premium, but did not actually go there (it was 1.98), so here we are with oil wells sticking up all over, and outrageous gas prices. The state tax is 18.5 cents the feds get 18.5 cents, and the local crooks get 7 cents sales tax. Remember when they were trying to get congress to bankroll the Alaska pipeline? So we would NEVER have to depend on the A-Rabos again? Hmmmm...? Do you REMEMBER? What a screwing the U.S. took on THAT one. It turns out that the oil was too high in Sulphur? Like it JUST got that way after the pipeline was finished? What a bunch of crooks./wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

Re: cost of fuel\'s

Gas up here in Maine is fluctuating wildly, and that's an understatement. The lowest I could find on my weekly treck down the coast was 1.31, with the average about 1.39. In my area it's 1.43, all for regular unleaded. These prices were averaging 1.22 last week, a jump of 0.17.

Diesel has jumped from 1.53 to 1.74, with prices of 1.94 at some stations. The state is out of Kerosene, literally, none to be found anywhere, and no one knows when more will be delivered. A lot of people rely on the Kerosun heaters as a source of warmth as they can't afford to fill the fuel tank. You wouldn't mind, but there is a fuel depot deep water port only 100 miles away, so I know the extra cost isn't transportation charges.

Somebody should go to jail for the cost of fuel this year. Last March, when I bought the Mazda 323 (to put a lot of miles on and save fuel - 38mpg average at 210,000 miles), gas was averaging 0.83 a gallon, it's almost doubled within a year! Fuel oil (#2) has jumped from 1.01 last month to 1.45 this month. It's time to start burning wood again. Last year we never paid over 0.95 all winter long, and the winters here just keep getting longer as I get older.

My economics teacher said that by the end of the year, its going to be $1.70 for 87 octane. He practically guarenteed it, then he mumbled some reason that most of the class couldn't hear, but one of the international business agreements are trying to pass something that'll put fueloil up to some huge price...

Here in Texas cheap gas is about $1.26 a gallon and has been there steady for about a month but where I buy gas they said is is expected to go to aobut $1.30 within a week. I read in the local paper that regular unleaded is expected to be $1.70 by year's end.

Re: cost of fuel\'s

The current situation is simple: OPEC has managed to keep production down for the first time since the 70's. In the past few years the OPEC countries would agree on a production level and ignore it. Lately they have been sticking to it. And like CJ Dave said, not all oil can be iused for Autos. And yes, there was a glut last fall and summer, that kept the prices low from the usual summer gouge. As for the profits, ask any investment banker and he will tell you, stay out oil stocks. They suck for profits (dividends) and growth (resale value). Take the a look at todays news from one of last American Oil Companies, Phillips Petroleum:
Phillips Petroleum Company (NYSE:p) today reported fourth-quarter net income of $250 million, or 99 cents a share, compared with a loss of
$210 million, or 83 cents a share, for the same period in 1998.

Re: cost of fuel\'s

Today's price:

9.50 NoK / $ 1.20 pr. *liter*, which is $ 4.50 a gallon .......

(This is for 95 octane, 97/98 is about 5 cent higher...)
