I'm just now trying to get into riding dirtbikes. I've always wanted to ride and get a bike ever since I was little but just haven't ever been able to, and now I'm getting a job so I will actually be able to save up to get a bike and such. 15 years old, 5'8", around 150 pounds and growing. I've talked to some people and they've suggested some different bikes and I've looked around at different stuff and here's what I've come up with that might be good for me(as far as price, size, and me just starting out goes)....
2000 Yamaha TT-R125L(Not sure about if this would really be something that would have enough power for me and be big enough for an extended period of time)
2000 Yamaha TT-R225
2000 Kawasaki KDX200
2000 Honda XR200R(I'm really liking this one right now)
2000 KTM 200 M/XC(Seems to be really pricey compared to the others)

Any suggestions considering my height, weight, age, me just starting out, etc.? Also, any tips for after I get a bike and start actually riding? Thanks!/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

this might be a little late but my girlfriend is in the same situation as you, BMXer. I am going to get her the XR 200. it has a shorter seat height, which is helpful when you are learning. she tried to ride my '98 CR125 and felt uncomfortable because both feet couldn't touch the ground. also I know three people that started riding on an xr 200. i personally would not get a four stroke but if you are out riding and your truck runs out of gas, it is nice to be able to dump in the gas for your bike(no pre-mix on a four stroke). hope this helped
