On the Jeep Off-Road.com page on the 258 I-6 engine it has a computer ignition bypass for the CJ-7. I need to know how to do this for the YJ. The wiring colors are not the same. It is urgent. I am installing a pre-emissions engine and have to go without the computer.

Just a suggestion.........disconnect the computer and the ignition module and use a GM HEI. It's basically a one wire deal so you won't have to worry about figuring out which wires do what with the computer by-pass thingy.

Are you removing an engine other than a 258 (4.2L)? I know that YJs had the same color wires on the 258s right until they switched to the 4.0. I've done this wiring change to many 1989 and 1990 YJs for other members of my 4x4 club, and they were all the same as my CJ7.

Drop me an E-mail at [email protected] and I'll help you figure this out.
