My girlfriend has a 1993 blazer with the vin W motor in it. She pulled in last night complaining of a funny sound in the motor. I took it to get looked at and the mechanic listened to it and then looked at the oil and said "its really broke and its really bad." He suspects spun rod bearing or maybe two. Oil is about 50% metal shavings. Decided to go with a Jasper longblock. $3500 installed, tax, out the door. 3 year/75,000 mile warranty. Blazer only had 130,000 on it, never abused, always maintained to schedule. Hope this never happens to any of you.
