I had problems with my clutch linkage coming apart again while wheeling. Twice in fact. I am hoping to fix that. However I am having problems with the clutch. Its slipping. What would happen if the clutch fork came off that "ball" inside the bellhousing? Would that allow the clutch to slip?

Regarding the linkage problem. I am thinking of moving the one side to the body out rigger for the body mount. The mount on the trans I want to extend it maybe 1 inch so that if there is flex that it will just slide a little instead of popping off. Think this will help? Thanks.

What kind of wheeling do you do, rock or mud/sand? Last time I buried in the mud, the wheeles churned up so much silt, that when it came in contact with the pressureplate (on a 4.5" lift and 35" tires /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif ) the mud dried up to a good hard (read pottery) surround that wouldn't let the pressure plate put full pressure on the friction plate / flywheel. I've also seen basically brand new clutches burn through after some hardcore sand trips... just tore a stock clutch plate down to nothing. As for the fork being off the ball, not much, mine does it routienly... I wouldn't think its the best situation, but hey, its a jeep. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Somebody else could probably better explain all this tho.

The fork coming off the ball should only affect the release. I've had that happen and also have had the fingers come out of the clips on the throwout bearing, same effect.
