Anybody know why one would have to continue adj the clutch on a '68 baja ...... i have taken all teh toe play out and i am now into the clutch release part ...... if that makes sense brand new clutch CD, PP, RB, new fork and bearing kit as well...... and the CC is less than a year old as well .... the trans bushings look as old as the car too

do you have a gounding strap going from you trans to the pan? if not the engine will gound through your clutch cable and cause it to stretch. it sounds strange but it is true.

Hiya Fred
Yes you'r correct it is a guide,but...if the center tube bracket breaks(as mine has..GRRRRRR/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif),it will play havoc with clutch adjustment.
Example,I have no free play in the clutch pedal and my fork is up against the throw out bearing, but when I release the clutch it grabs right off the bat.
My nieghbor has messed with VW's and used to have a shop.
He is the one who told me about it.
Then I read about the same thing in a issue of"Dune Buggies and Hot VWs",just looked it back up last night/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif....MAY 2000.
There is an article on repairing it.
But I'm going to go Hydraulic instead,as I'm not driveing it for now./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
