O.K. I tried to get a better look at my neighbors wagoneer. It is a wagoneer and it has a 4 wheel drive badge on the back quarter panel. I couldnt get over the fence cause of the dogs but I got out my 10X25 binocs and it looks like the pumpkin is on the drivers side. Couldn't see the back. Any body have any clues? Does the pumpkin location give a clue to vintage? And does that vintage have D44'S front and rear? Thanks.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif 1980 seems to be the year that the big Jeep vehicles went to driver's side drop, since the cases listed are all that configuration. It could be a NP 219 (full Time, no hubs); 208 (would probably HAVE hubs); My guess is a 219....built by new process, and has a 2.61:1 low range. A very complex case, but I'm 90% sure that it does have a center differential, so your Jeepie would be one heck of a snowdriver. This case has NO 2WD if it is the 219.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif This is just a guess, you understand, but if it is a 219 case like I mentioned, there IS no 2WD....you just match up them tires real good and go fer it! If it is a 219 case, there shoul donly be the Lo-Hi lever, that's all. That case was the modern version of Quadra-Trac.....thank goodness they left out them pesky cone clutches. If you acquire this Jeep and it is a 219, I'll give you the scoop on how to be a good steward of the full-time Jeep transfer case. NO....you don't need a tuxedo and a big cloth napkin on one arm!! You just need common sense./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif You could: (1) take the guy a beer; (2) buy him a ticket to the Indy 500; (3) invite him over for a BBQ; (4)go over THERE to a BBQ, and sneak a peek inside to see what levers stick up in 6that rascal./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif
