Anyone ever torn down a CJ7 front axle? Is it a C-clip style axle or can it be torn down without opening the Differential? Thanks, Danny

It's not a C-Clip axle and yes you can tear it apart without opening the differential.

Just did a complete rebuild on a 78 CJ7 Dana 30. You can remove the axles without removing the cover on the differential. Pull wheels, calipers, wheel bearings and disk, mount bracket and spindle hub, the axle will pull out. Note the inner axle seal is at the differential, not the outer axle tube and you may damage this seal and have to remove the carrier to replace. If not replacing U-joints in the axles you might be better leaving the axles in place if you are working on the spindle bearings and such. IF you need any more info I'm still pretty fresh on this, just holler.
