I'm going to do a search and see what the prices come up to be. Our latest wierdness is thinking that we could use the existing flexocrap fan on the end of a clutch and in a stock Jeep shroud, so when that sucker clutches in half way up the grade on a hot day with A/C running, that maybe the flex won't suck all the HP out of our 304. The ONLY sticker is IF the flexocrap has enough of a center hub to hog out to fit a clutch/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

Dave,
Heres the quote I got from [email protected]. Save yourself 30 clams.
This is their internet priceing. You may have to e-mail them and get the quote before you can get this price. But I'm not positive.

>Thank you for your inquiry, our phone number is 1-800-252-9686
>I had to find some one that still had a 1979 catalog, the shroud is
>still available.
>J5355673, retail is 92.50, our price is 61.05

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif We just talked with Arnold Nobles at Springdale Dodge in Springdale Arkansas and he is ordering the shroud for us at the price that he quoted to you, Chris. Thanks for helping to get this nice lead on the shroud source. This gets Jeepchick one step closer to driving her CJ/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gifI actually don't know the answer to that since I have NEVER SEEN a stock CJ shroud, except in photos. It may have the small end too close to the water pump for a "puller" fan. A "pusher' fan may work since it would have the motor on the opposite side. Shrouds make ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. On big ships they have a shroud called a "nozzle" which can enhance the effectiveness of props. The only problem is that stuff can get hung up inside at sea./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

In hopes to not sound too much like I'm trying to sell stuff, but just to help everyone here, if anyone out there needs factory jeep parts, I work for Mepco Jeep and we sell factory Mopar parts and exact copies for those parts that Mopar no longer produces. I have FACTORY parts manuals all the way back to the CJ2s and up until the latest TJs. Any part numbers needed I can get you. Our prices are often much better than dealers as well. In addition we also sell aftermarket stuff and will beat any advertised price on a product. Call Jimmy at 1-800-388-5337 By the way, Ernie is our expert on pre '75 stuff all the parts manuals for those are at his desk, ask for him you flatfender drivers.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif I won't know for a couple of days....Arnold is researching it right now. He says there were several revisions. But for sure the # J5355678 is a good number because that's the one that z50k2 got for his '79. For a while, there was a difference between automatic and standard shift....probably due to the cooling lines...but Arnold says no they are the same. He's going to e-mail me and let me know for certain which one it is. I gave him both numbers. I'll post when the info comes through./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

After a little quick research...I called two other Dodge dealers here near me...both said they can't touch that price. BTW the part # is the 678 number and it is the same for the 78 year as the 79 year manual trans. I was also told that this price is 10% above cost...same for all dealers, so those guys quoting 92 dollars are making out big...they say they would lose money at 61.05, but they bought for the same price as the dealer z50k2 uses. I was also told that there is a Dodge dealer in the SF bay area that sells at 8%. That would put the shroud under 60 dollars. But 61.05 was good enough for me. I ordered one. Thanks for the info!

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif Did you happen to get the straight scoop on whether the shroud is different for the 78-79 automatics?/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifAlso....if you have a NAME for that SFO Bay Area Mopar Dealer, I could sure use it. I try never to go into Soddom but sometimes we have jobs there. It is about 150 miles./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

No...sure didn't. I called a local dealer and had him verify the part number and that 78 and 79 manual were the same, and they are. Also, Arnold is the one that told me about the dealer in the bay area...and the difference in cost for me wasn't worth loosing his trust just to have it shipped from elsewhere. So I bought from him. But since you live near there, probably wouldn't hurt to ask. If I were you I'd rather NOT go into the bay area...its a gross sad site representative of 50 years of liberalism.
