Hi all,
I've been trying for months now to get the Commando's choke adjusted correctly. Right now, I'm close, but still not quite right.

It fires right up in the morning, and fast idle is on. As soon as I touch the gas, fast idle drops off, but the choke stays on. After it's warmed up for a few minutes, fast idle comes back, and sometimes doesn't kick out again, even after driving 25 minutes to work.

It seems work when the temp is 40 or so. Warmer days it seems OK. There haven't been enough cold days to know how it's going to act in them.

BTW, it's the I-6 engine, with the original carb.

my 68 has a manual override that keeps the fast idle on via a choke cable. looks factory but don't know. it works. i lubed the fast idle cam and linkage and now mine goes off. it worked too. i used tal 5 but any lube would do. before i lubed it fast idle stayed on way too long too.

check to make sure the fast idle adjustment screw is inline with the cam it rides on. Some cams are off kilter to one side and can catch the screw.
I just replaced mine with a manual pull cable-works much better. When the choke is all the way open, and the engine warm, the cam is completely out of the way. On the orignal setup, the autochoke wouldnt open all the way, the cam almost sat on the adjuster screw all the time, and it ran rich- opening the autochoke didnt help(lean setting), because then it wouldnt be closed enough when it was cold.
