Well I have decided to go with a SPOA but I dont want to buy a kit(to pricy!) so I want to buy the parts seperate! I have broken it down and wondering if anyone knew something cheaper or if I left something out that will desperately be needed!

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif perches=20-30
/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif shocks=50+(discount auto specials!!lol)
/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif drop pitman arm=100 (should I run a z-bar)
/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif extended brake lines=?(I was thinking of doubling some stock brake lines so it will extend???)

and I think that is about as cheap and right on target as I can get unless somebody knows something I dont!

P.S. if I run this set-up with some 2" shackles could this fit 32.5" tyres???!!!!!

P.S.(2) should I run a drop pitman arm because I know they are designed for 3" of drop and I am adding shackles???!!!

P.S.(3) Do I have to use bump-stops???

P.S.(4) Is this set-up going to work/be safe /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif ?????!!LOL

You can go wayy cheaper if you know how to fabricate parts and such. I did my complete SPOA for around 12 dollars Canadian.
Perches, if you dont have the tools you better buy them 20 dollars isnt bad, as long as you get quality ones, i wouldnt reccomend little cheap ones like conferr perches or somthing, I think Breeze makes them the best, i made mine very similar with some small improvements.

For steering, if your doing a SPOA i would reccomend going with a Z bar of some sort, its the cheapest way to go. I can make you one probably, ill have pix in a few days (trying to get them for other people but been SOO busy latley). If your interested e-mail me at rock_crawler_zuk@yahoo.com ill charge 50 USD plus shipping and ill need your straight, stock drag link.

For brake lines on my truck i got some front lines off a Suzuki Swift (or a firefly, metro, etc.. there all the same) and there perfect for SPOA and allow for lots of flex, there 20" long. I got mine for 2 dollars a peice. For the rear, i took the 2 lines that go from the body to the frame on another samurai and added them to the rear lines, now there really long.

With 2" shackles you should be ok with the 32's, maybe. Is the 32.5 the accuall diameter of the tire? If it is, then you will probably have some rubbing, inless you do a 5.5" SPOA.

If you want me to make you a Z bar, ill make it custom to your lift height.

You do not *need* bumpstops, but its always a good idea. Using the shocks at bump stops (what a bunch of people do, even me) isnt good but i dont really care becuase im using such cheap shocks, I have rear chevette shocks in the front, plenty long for LOTS of flex, and they let me stuff my 33's in the fenders nicley without any fancy shock mounts just lowered bottom mounts. Stock shocks can give you enough flex, i got a decent amount with them, and with them acting as bump stops for quite a while.. Mounted correctly and they can net you around 1200 RTI on a 30* ramp (as i recall), as Chris Minerich did on his father's truck.

This setup will work good and be safe, if you know the welding is good and will hold, if the steering is properly corrected and brake lines are long enough. If your going with 5.5 SPOA, i would get some drive shaft spacers, but they are not nessessary. I had my truck on 5.5" spoa for quite a while, with expander shackles and stock drive shafts, no spacers, and i didnt have any problems. Although, it does screw up your splines if you drive it for too long like this. Hope this info helps, let me know about the Z bar, dont know when ill be able to make it, within a week or 2, i will probably have 2 or 3 others to make for other people too.

I'm with Anton on this one! I got my brake lines off a Honda Civic front and put them on the front of my Zuk. I put two rear lines togeather for the rear and works well for now. Made my own perches for around $10, I've seen the Breeze and RRO peaches and they are made very well. Made my own Zbar out of 1" solid steel and bent it to fit my lift! Never had a problem with it in over a yr or so.

So you can use stock shocks when you do a SPOA?? I thought you could since your basically flipping everything over it sounds like a real cheap set-up but for now I just really want to lift it and put some gears and good tires!!

P.S. HEY ANTON I SENT YOU A MESSAGE(BBS NOT E-MAIL)!

You can run stock shocks but you will find that they will be too short once you hit the trails. But they will work. If you want a drop pitman arm I will probably be getting rid of mine once I go to power steering next week. I'd probably let it go for $50.00. It's basically brand new, maybe 2 months old. I run it with my Breeze Z link. Might let them both go for $150.00 so I can go cross-over. They are both straight and like new.

Yes, you can use stock shocks for SPOA! As i said i used them for quite a while with 31's they acted as bump stops and i had no trouble, They only bottom out on the highway. With a normal SPOA and stock springs and shackles, i couldnt get them fully extedded, the wheel just comes in the air. With Expander shackles i got them extended, so i went with Chevette shocks, much better. I still run stock shocks in the rear, and expander shackles, but with just the frons supension i get TONES of flex and the body stays very level compared to my old setup.

Studlybilly ill private message you about the parts.

Yeah but I just noticed something guys... the front springs are starting to sort-of bend down and I just put a shackle lift on the front! So I will run stock shocks and a 2" shackle lift and fit 33's (keep your fingers crossed!)

Hey, I went the middle route. I bought the kit SpOA with the exception of the z-link, which I built my own from 1" solid square stock. RRO knocks off a hundred bucks if you don't buy the bar, which you would've had to wait 3 weeks for them to custom build it anyway. That takes a serious chunk out of that price! I actually thought about fabbin' my own perches, but decided against it as I couldn't have done nearly as sweet a job that RRO makes. I didn't want to buy the cheapy's you see in the hardware store 'cause the require too much welding on the axle housing, which seriously weakens it. I found the middle route offered me the most strength, for the cheapest price, and allowed for the quickest install.

10-4 on that but if I can find a cheaper way that will the same way or similar to it I am definitely gonna do it...even if I had the money to buy the SPOA from RRO I would still try to do it cheaper!
