Howdy Fellow Jeepers

Question 1 : The 4 barrel version of cast iron intake manifolds for AMC`s ( 360 etc..) , are they a Q-Jet pattern ?

Question 2 : My neighboor has a whole bunch of rebuildable Q-Jets . Will anyone work or are some better than others for a 304 . And how do you tell the CFM on a Q-Jet ?
Thanks

Jeff

gp'n, you say not without an adapter but the stock amc 4 barrel intake is designed for a q-jet. it used a spread bore style carb. at least thats what my buddys 401 has on it.

all of the FACTORY 4bbl JEEP manifolds ive seen where Motorcraft style 2 big holes, 2 small holes.

maybe some other manifolds floating around from some HiPO AMC cars?

A "rebuildable quadrasuck"ain't worth the hassle. If your on the cheap a Edlebrock preformer is a good carb for the 200.00 range, for 450,you can get a holley, add 50 bucks and get a demon, but go small!the 650 demon flows like a holley 750.Summit racing has resonable prices.

AMC V8s used square bore carbs, '74 and under. '75 and up used spreadbore carbs (Motorcraft 4350s). The best flowing factory 4Brl manifold is the '70 Rebel Machine 390 intake, it is similar to the old Edelbrock highrise R4B, but made of iron.

Thanks all for the information . Matt1911 , I have used a few Q-Jets off road and have never had a complaint and I have had them on angles that would make grown men cry without stalls or flooding. I take it you have had bad experiences with them .
