Can\'t STOP Vibrating

I have an 81 CJ7 with a new T5 transnission. After installing the tranny, new clutch assembly I have a vibration in third, fourth, and fifth gears. It feels exactly like a bad universal on the drive line, but is not the u-joints. It does not vibrate when coasting in neutral or with the clutch pedal pressed to the floor. I am trying to determine if the problem is my transmission or transfer case (dana300). All input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You Brian

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif You'll pardon me if I ask the obvious/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif....did you by some chance unplug the slip yolk and then get it back in the wrong position./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif I always look for the 98 cent solution before I change the crankshaft/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

Re: Can\'t STOP Vibrating

Just a suggestion... make sure you have lined up your drive shaft with both yokes (axle and trans) the same as it was before you did the driveline work. The first time I changed my U-joints I forgot to mark how it lined up and when I put it back on I got had some vibration - so I turned it another 180deg and sure enough, no more vibration. It's easy and quick to do, and I've found that most OEM spicer rear drivelines aren't perfect as for their balance so they like to sit how they were installed the first time.

Hey Sully, When you say you rotated it 180 degrees, what do you mean. Did you pull the slip yolk apart and rotate it, or just unbolt it and rotate it. I always thought that just unbolting and rotating wouldn't do squat. Am I wrong???

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif You are exactly right bill.....he was talking about unplugging the slip yolk and rolling it over and slipping it back in. Get this.....our church bought a Ford mini bus....like about 30 passengers or so. I happen to ride in it and I tell you, it vibrated my back teeth out. The driveline is a two-piece, but only the first and last joints are involved in the cancellation process. Some one DID unplug the back driveline and re-install it at random....therby affecting the "system" under which the joints would operate/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

Re: Can\'t STOP Vibrating

Thanks Dave, thats what I thought. My dad used to rent motor homes and had a real problem with the ujoints for some reason and got more than a couple of "mechanics" that installed the shaft improperly. In fact one time he had to drive from the San francisco area to Winamucca in NV about a 6-7 hour ride because the mechanic had screwed up.
