Hey everyone! I've kinda been away for a while but I've been working on a new build up and its time to get some pipes under it.

I have a set of 3 into 1 headers on the 4.2 dumping both collectors out in a slight stagger. What I'm wondering is, Should I Y these together as close to the collectors as possible or would there be any appreciable loss in torque by running both pipes into a dual inlet to a single outlet Flowmaster?

This is one of those situations where: "Only A dyno could tell ya for sure.". In matters like air resistance and exhaust flow, I use this rule: "What you think IS....isn't; and what you think ISN'T ....is.
If it wuz me I would use the two-in one-out Flowmaster. I would do it because it makes it simpler to get things apart later on, and uses up less space with the two smaller head pipes than a bigger collector would probably use up. I have a two-in-one-out flowmaster on my 350 CID SB Chev-Lay and it works great. The single tailpipe still supports low end torque pretty well, yet it's an easy setup to build and to maintain. Both header pipes are wrapped with heat wrap to keep the cab floor cooler, but the Flowmaster itself runs hotter because of it.

Thanks Dave, Yup, that's exactly the reason I was considering the dual inlet option.
BTW, Did you run that by the Crack Moonguy Team? Always respect their input... provided you can catch 'em before the bust into the Beer box!
