What should be looked for when buying full doors? I have and '89 YJ. I like the TJ doors the best becsue of their full glass and the new interior panels the $700 is a lot. can the older CJ or YJ full doors be converted to be almost like TJ doors for less cash outlay? thanks

The windshield does have more angle to it, but only because the bottom of the frame is thicker than the CJ/YJ windshield frame. This added thickness pushes the bottom of the glass out further from the driver, but the angle where the frame meets the door frame is the same. car makers like to cut corners so they kept the same sheetmetal for the doors. Just like the '93-2000 Camaros and Firebirds have basicly the same floor panels and rear suspension as the older modles.

TJ doors might fight but it wouldn't be right. you'd have to adjust the striker and if you wanted to get a hardtop too it they would never work. Also TJ doors are like 5" thick while CJ & YJ doors are more like 2". you would have to move your seats in and TJ doors would be more hassle than they're worth even if they were free.

striker...the pin the door catches on. on older CJ's pre 81, it is just a thick metal plate on the rear of the door opening/wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif.

You can do the conversion..I have seen it done. They bought the tj strikers and mounted them in their original position...the doors did stick in farther, but only a few inches...and they had custom leather bucket seats from an infiniti anyway....lots of work...my opinion...get some newer paddle style doors and live with it.
