i need a new car because my truck gets horrible gas mileage. i like bronco II's and thought the gas mileage might not be so bad, i currently get 17 would they get much better? if i get one should i get hte newer body style or the older one. how is the reliability and performance for this car also. thanks

I bet it wouldn't get much better, the v6 might even get worse than that. I've heard a 4.0 ranger 4x4 will get around 13, so that should clue you in a little. Before I had the bronco i had an 87 Toyota Camry that got 35 on the highway...not a bad little car either, and probably safer than a BroncoII.

17 is horrible? my 13.5 must seem like hell to you. When I want good gas milage I hop on the Honda and get up to 54 mpg! I figure driving the bike to work 75% of the time will even out the truck's bad so that I get a round figure of about 20 mpg going to work as an average.

Havack!

The main difference in my truck and yours is your truck is a toy and my truck is a truck!

You will be hard pressed to find many 4x4s that will get better than 17 miles per gallon. The only one that I can think of is maybe the Suzuki Samuri ypu might want to post down on thier board and ask what kind of mileage they get.

Like muddy says. park the Bronco Also and get a nice little car for commuting. For real long drives this is the only way to go.

BTW. If you spell check in here Bronco shows up as bad ... Site recommends Brontosaurus instead. /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

yea, my friends with bronco 2's get abotu 14 or so, the same as i get out of my fullsize. i would have to recomend a little car, or a diesel for fuel economy. i know we had a big post a few months ago abotu diesel in a bronco, i am still looking into one of those isuzu diesel conversions that supposedy existed. if anyone has any info let me know, till then, i am on the lookout for a wrecked ford pickup witha 6.9 or a 7.3

I think if you want to get better than 17 mpg you need a vehicle with only one axle and no bed-this means a car. You could buy whatever for a daily driver and keep the Nissan (which gets almost twice the milage of my daily driver) and have the best of both. But, if you want both in one I think you will be searching a long time. Anyways, good luck to you. Laters.
