What Shorts said is true. Did the cable break while pulling on the lever? My housing is so full of dirt it feels like it breaks every time I pull on the lever. If the lever did move some get out of the cab and push down on the top of the hood in the front, right on top of where the latch is. Sometimes you can push it down a little and then it will pop up and you can release the lever and open the hood. Other than that your best bet is to find where it broke and then give it a pull with some Vise Grips on the end.
Good Luck

You're fu*ked

Not really sure what to do, but look at someone else's (or pictures) and see what you could rig up to stick through the crack and release it.

Hope someone else has a better trick, sorry!

When you replace it, make sure to grease everything in the system, including the latch mechanism. The cable on our old burb was fine, but the latch started sticking, so you'd pull the cable and nothing would happen. So u start driving around running over curbs and stuff while pulling the cable to jar it open so you can GREASE THE HELL out of it before closing it again.

Another one of those little things you take for granted....
