funny story:
I was sitting at work today when a friend called and said his room mate was about to deploy and wanted to sell his 94 jeep. He only wants $400.
Of course this warrants a look. I head over to the jeep and theres a guy there looking at it. Come to find out, the owner got us both there to have a bidding war, but he wasn't there yet. I looked at the jeep and it surprised e that it has a 4.0, 103000 miles and clean oil. it had been dumped on its side, but it has 3" springs, 3" body lift and 5 brand new 33's. Since the owner hadn't shown up yet, I talked to the other guy (who had cash in hand) and told him it wouldn't help either of us to runthe price up.. I told him I'd pay $600 for it.. he said he'd pay more if it ran...So, perturbed that the owner tried to juice us, I offered the other potential buyer $40 to go away.... which he did. 10 min later, the owner shows up and asks where the other guy is. I told him he came, looked at the jeep, said it was a POS and left. I then asked him what the bottom line was on the jeep...........

$300 with half doors and 5 new tires.. so I gave him the $50 I had on me and I'm taking my trailer there tomorrow at lunch to gather it up.
now.. I dont know what to do with the yj.. if I were ever planning to build a buggy, now's the time. I could also sell the parts and build another stroker... which I have been wanting to do. I could also get the yj back on the road.. it's ugly, but fairly sound.
I'll probably tear it down and keep everything but the tub.
I really dont have room for this thing, but $300????
actually $340 with the bribe...lol

That story rocks. I never ever ever get deals like that. Why does everyone else seem to get so lucky? I guess the guy didn't need the money that bad......I'm sure by the sounds of it he could have at least gotten $1k.

Elusive!

Man! Between you and W.C...., you guys are killin' me w/ your sweet (and cheap) finds!

Great deal and quick thinking on your part to get rid of the other guy. (I guess b/c you love Jeeps, "all's fair", right?
)

Congrats on your new acquisition.

Nice. I'd say build a buggy for the trails out west. Or sell all the parts from that yj you don't want, put it in storage and then start collecting and building the parts you want for the yj.

Chris, you better get up at the crack and get over there. The guy you bribed may return...
Good going and thinking on your part. Sounds like something I would do....
I have 2 1/2 cj's in my back yard for sale. Getting near spring time and getting ready to go up for sale..Fix that YJ up and make a few $$$. You certainly don't need another POS....

When you get it running good tow it out to Moab. At the end of the weekend I will give $400.oo to take them darn Square headlights and the rest of the jeep off your hands. Just think of the gas money you'll save on the way back.

Get ahold of Mary so we can get sent in as a group for the Trail lottery. Great deal on that YJ I see that some of the things I tought you are still coming in useful! LOL Later
