I was pagin throught the new JP mag and saw a picture of a SWEET rock climber. In the pic I noticed that this Jeeps Rear Boomers were installed "elbow pointing front" Does this mean I put mine in wrong? I have my rear Boomerang shackles with the elbow point towards the rear. Anybody know?

From your description you mounted them backwards on your Jeep. They mount with the angle pointed to the interior of the vehicle with the long portion on bottom attached to the spring.

I believe that the long portion is supposed to connect to the frame, not the spring. That's how I had them set up on my CJ-7 anyway.I don't think that the shackle cross bar will clear the frame if you mount them long side down. It wouldn't be the first time that I've been wrong though...

Dean, that's what my MORE destructions said, too. When I "tested" the clearance by hand, I went with what made the most sense under maximum compression.

God only knows with the front! /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

Yep, that's what Chris O. told me as well. The fronts can be mounted the same way - elbows to the rear, short portion down. According to Chris, the only advantage of running boomerangs in the front is to level out the Jeep (MORE's boomerangs are 3/4" longer than stock); they won't prevent the springs from flipping up against the frame (at least on CJ's). Anyhoo, I don't gotta worry 'bout it no mo', I gots Revolvers. =8~>

Which way do they go on a frnt shackle reversal?

G
Short end down, elbows toward the front, and you'll probably have to remove the shackle crossbar to clear the frame if you're using in-frame shackle mounts..

I had a positive experience with my booms yesterday..

I started wheeling yesterday with the center bolt on "street" torque. It dawned on me after about 1/2 hour that I hadn't loosened the center bolt..

wrench, wrench... a few minutes later and the jeep is a cloud in the sky, floating over small rocks and ruts with the greatest of ease.... well, maybe not a cloud, but the difference was amazing! I love these things! I didn't even retorque on the way home (freeway) and the ride felt even better! mayber there is something to these shackle things! /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif
