I'm looking at the Bombardier DS90 for my 11 year old girl and 7 year old boy. They both are above average size and have some ATV experience. Does anyone have any comments on the performance of this machine? It seems the only parent adjustment available is the throttle screw. My brother has a Polaris 90 for his kid and was able to increase performance by taking out exhaust restriction plates as his son got more experienced. Are there any easy parent performed upgrades on the DS90 like this or would I have to go with mods?

Here is my experiance with the BOMB. I would not recomend anyone to purchase one at all! If you don't believe me try calling around to some dealers and trading it in. they wont take it for a trade in! Call the dealer and try getting parts for it. The one i had I cound'nt get parts and it needed them! I am talking brakes and normal wear items. When I bought this bike for my son it looked nice. that is about it. You can't buy any aftermarket pipes or anything to make it faster. The first trip out on the bike the tire fell off! The second trip out the chain guard fell off. Now this is a brand new bike. My son is 8 years old so it isn't like he was over size for the bike. Then they tried not to pay for it to be fixed. wanted to know if the bike was in a accident. what a joke it wasnt even 3 days old. Then the starter solinoid went that was a 4 week back order for parts. While it was in the shop they found a leak in the intake gasket from the factory. Then i need to do the usual tune up. New air filter 30$ yea i said 30 dollars for a cheap paper air filter. I had nothing but problems and there customer service is in canada. so enjoy talking to them from the usa. not to mention they will do nothing for you. I went to try and get rid of it finaly and could'nt find anyone to take it in for a trade and it wasnt beat. they would even look at it told me know over the phone. said they can't get parts and it is a big piece of sh#*. not to mention you can't order parts for it they said you have to go the deal and buy them. Well good luck with your search. BUt if you buy a BOMB it is definetly buyer be where.

My sons DS 90 2 stroke has been a pure champ since we had the carb adjusted. At first it was a little sluggish but once the dealership fixed it, we have been really impressed. It will go every where our bigger four wheelers will go and will go just over 30 mph ( 33mph to be exact). Water, mud, hills, it dont matter, it will just go.

My son has a 2004 Ds90 2 stroke and other than an occasional lost bolt there have been no problems. He has been clocked at 35 mph with radar and I have been clocked at 33 mph (I weigh 230 lbs). The ds90 starts everytime and although it does have an electric starter we don't usually use it when the engine is cold. One kick will do the job. This has been a good beginner machine but I believe the Polaris would be a better choice. The Polaris has alot more suspension travel and seems to have been accepted by the race community which means the availabilty of performance or stock parts will increase dramatically versus the ds90 or other asian minis. Author is "Yogibear": Have you noticed that the little 90cc atv's have very little suspension travel. My son's 2002 DS90 has 2 inches of travel upfront and 2 inches of travel in the rear. I was getting very disappointed watching him drive and bouncing all over the place. I looked for aftermarket rear mono shocks. Nothing, at least not at a reasonable price. I remembered visiting a local E-Ton dealer and noticed that the rear suspension had 4 -6 inches of good travel on their 90cc machines. I looked at the setup and low and behold it is identical to mine. I ordered the rear mono shock for $62.00 shipped and installed it on my little bomber in 10 minutes. Wow, it's like a new machine. Good, smooth, clean travel and no other modifications. How easy is that! I don't have the product number, but they ordered the 2004 rear mono shock off of their 90cc machine. The local E-Ton dealer was more than willing to offer me some help with this modification. My son is excited to go riding since he won't be bounced off of the trails anymore. Great little machine. Mounted a speedometer and light kit on it. This little baby will top out at 31 mph. Plenty fast for a little machine.

If you are looking for better suspension in your DS-90, you may want to investigate his rear shock improvement. Might work for you too....
