I have a freind with a 99 z71 tahoe and he wants to get a 2 or a 3 inch body lift. But we both are kind of curious to what it will look like, with the bumpers and frame gaps etc. So could some of you that have pictures of body lifts please post them.

thanks Alex

below are a few pics and attached are some pics of the 3" body lift and bumper at stock height compared to with the bumper lift brackets. it will lower the load you can carry with your bumper but you should have a frame mounted hitch anyways to tow anything so it shouldnt matter. i am still waiting for time to move my hitch up to match the bumper though, so it is down at stock height

Thanks guys
I have just a few more questions. Is there any reason other than personal prefferance to get a 2 over a 3? and how do you go about lifting the hitch if its bolted to the bottom of the hitch.
Thanks Alex

I know that a lift is usually put on to run bigger tires. But can you still lower the spare tire if you dont raise the rear bumper? Can you get that rod lowwerer into the hole to lower the tire?

youre right - the hitch is bolted to the frame. the way im raising mine is cutting the brackets and rewelding them so it raises the hitch 3" and is just as strong. i will take pics when i do it. my problem is i am away at school so i have to wait till i am home for long enough to do it. also - youre right about the tire lowering holes not lining up when you raise the bumper - personally i have my spare in the bed since i didnt like it hanging underneath (rubbed exhaust and hitch anyways)

my tire won;t fit underneath with the exhaust there. so its been i nthe ebd for the last year or so. it seems to be working otu well there. i haevmnt yet neded it, but when i do I"m gonna be glad i dont have to crawl underneath there and scrape mud and waht not off of the working mechanisms.

mine was removed for me, the entire spare and mounting frame deal where ripped out froom under the truck, now I just pack to full size spares under my tool box. also that tire hangs down and drags on stuff when your in the rocks or even snow,

I think you can get one of those hitches that are made for sport trucks, that dont drop down near as far, like you I have thought aboud rewelding the mounting points, but I think it would be easer to just build and entire reciver from scratch, because the brackets are angled and it would be major pain in the but to just reweld the mounting points, and there would be alot of materail to remove so it probably wont quite line back up.
but with all that said, the thought still runs through my head.

well, on a normal hitch thats prob true but mines a little different. the main crossbar and receiver hole part is meant for an f150 but the previous owner of my truck had it laying around so he used 1/4" diamond plate steel and made brackets to bolt to the chevy frame. ive looked and measured and it will work out perfect to just grind away the welds where the top and side brackets are connected and cut out 3" and reweld. its prob hard to visualize but i can take pics if anybody cares
