Thats the "new" 14 bolt for my truck that I am currently building. My current one, uh, broke, and I'm getting this one all rebuilt and ready to go then I just drop my gears into it out of my old housing and plop it in.
Umm, carrier bearing spun in the housing. The crap bearings that came with my install kit, one of them seized in the race and spun it, thus enlarging the bearing bore and causing new races to not fit tightly...
I'm building my own... Just waiting on the pads to get here, scheduled delivery according to ups.com was the 22nd, didn't come, re-scheduled 23rd, didn't get it, etc, etc, etc now re-scheduled delivery 24th, didn't get it...
So is the 14 bolt useless? I have been looking for one and have had some trouble finding one for cheap. Most of the ones I have been finding are quite expensive.
What would be needed to make your old 14 bolt working again?
i think he sees that, but is wondering about one for himself. he is waiting for you to say "oh i can build you one just like mine for $50 and i'll drop it off and put it in for dinner at McD's"
" For free quite often" come on give me a break. I am being asked to pay and arm and leg for one. Do you have a hook up that you could let me in on or are you part of the 4x4 underground that leaves trucks up on blocks?
I just really want a 14 bolt and want to learn by building one up, I just need a donor, cheap.
What ever is easier. Are you joking or can you get one? That would be sweet. I have been calling yards and looking in the paper or ever. What about a D44 or 60. I'm not being greedy but just aspire to be just like you
whys isnt the spaer and caliper mounting bracket machined from one solid chunk, instead of the spacer bolted on with the caliper bracket bolted to it. just curious, is this not in final stages of devlopement?
The reason there are two pieces is this, you need the caliper to sit so the bleeder is pointing straight up for bleeding. Now, many different people rotate there pinions up and down to compensate for different lifts. With my setup you can "clock" the brackets to the desired position no matter where the pinion is pointing, thus the 12 different mounting bolts...
Elderado calipers are expensive. Most people I talk to don't want to pay that much for 2 calipers when you can buy d44 front calipers for 12.99 at autozone. So, my kit comes with brackets and e-brake calipers for no where near the cost of 2 eldo calipers and 2 regular brackets.
