I have been looking at the Black Diamond 3" lift for a CJ-7. Anyone have experience with either the "soft ride" or what ever it is the other is called, the "regular" ride? What about the shocks Black Diamond offers? I have a hardtop, winch, plus quite a bit of other weight, will the lift height hold up? Whatchathink? John

the black diamond lift is a good lift. use the XT shocks. ride is decent, it will hold up to a winch and hard top no prob. has one of the best warr in the business.

I have a 3" lift on my '68 CJ5. It's really nice on the road with not much body roll, but off road it is too stiff. I've always got a tire in the air! Sometimes it kind of fun, but sometimes not, if you know what I mean. They are loosening up a little after 2 years, but not enough for good articulation. On the other end of the spectrum, I have a buddy in my Jeep club that had a set of softride Skyjackers, and he was almost rolling in medium sidehill situations. His Jeep was just flopping around side to side. Hope this helps.

Is that the normal or the heavy-duty springs? I was considering black diamond for the 77 cj5...
