I need alittle help in finding a good aftermarket brake pad for my 97 yamaha bigbear. The original pads did not last to long after getting wet. I do most of my ridding in water/mud and the orig. pads wont even stop my quad anymore, any idea's about what pads would hold up better and where to get them.
Anyone else had problems with the drum brakes on the bigbear? any ideas on how to help keep the water out of the frnt/rear drums?

The drums should be sealed, so if junk is getting in check the seals. Try checking the shaft that actuates the rear shoes. It gets bound up where it goes through the backing plate. Disassemble and smooth up the shaft and hole with very fine emery cloth and lubricate - the brakes should work much better. Also check and/or lubricate the cables.
