Yep, that's right, Big Ugly is in the drive way. 24 yrs. old, 1 1/4 ton capacity, four wheel drive, Dana 60's front and rear, a big honking V8 that likes gas, and can pull the house down the road. Big Ugly is a crap brown 1977 Dodge M883 ex military cargo truck (pick up). A long bed that I think I can drive soon to be dessert camo zuki in the bed and still pull a trailer with the other two Zuks behind. Now he is home, the Indiana fab fest is a go! The 96 Dodge I had blew it's second tranny a few weeks ago, and I was sweating it trying to find a new tow vehicle. Now I can bring down ALL the stuff anyone needs for the fest. Pics to appear soon on www.northcoastoffroad.com

Ha Ha Ha, thanks, I can see I am going to have a lot of fun. Everyone was telling me (they own the 4x4 wannabe SUVs) that I shouldn't get it because it gets about 8 MPG (loaded or empty), but for $3,000.00, and something new that might get 15 MPG being $36,000.00, I can buy a whole lot of gas!

Tim,

are we talking powerwagon here?

I had 3 bigger vehicles high on my list (unimog, Kaiser 715, and a powerwagon), but wife didn't allow any of it...

so i settled for a smaller one (vehicle, not wife ;o)) .... and will use the salamit-tactics to make it BIGGGG!!!

later

Tim, did you ask them what the truck was setup for originaly? And I guess bringing Porters skid plates won't be a problem/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Alfred, yes it is a Power Wagon, I didn't realize how much I missed my old 78 Power Wagon I had when I was 18 until I drove Big Ugly. It is a riot, and HUGE. I wouldn't want to hit anyone, as it pushes 5000 lbs empty. John, it was a M883 communications truck that used to carry around the Telco shelter in the bed. It still has the 28V 60 Amp generator under the hood, I bet it would make one hell of a welder if I can figure it out! With a 1 1/4 ton capacity, I don't think your skid plate is going to make any difference!
