Better Way to Secure Hard Top?

It's about time to put the top back on again and I have a few questions about the way it fastens to the windshield frame and if there is a better way.
My top has six sheet metal screws that go through the metal band across the front and into the windshield frame. This band is pop riveted to the fiberglass of the top. The holes through this are begining to wallow out, as is the case of the holes in the windshield frame. I've used larger screws, and locking washers but the vibration down the road still loosens them up. Is there a better way to attach the hard top at the windshield?
I've seen attatchment hardware in catologues (front clips that lock like a mason jar) but I've been told they are junk.

Any Suggestions?

those clips are all I have holding the hardtop to the windshield, and some 3/8" bolts holding the top to the body. don't forget to put some weather striping in between. I've had no problems with the clips and they seem to hold the top very tight once they're adjusted.

I am having the same type of problem. I'll suffer thru this winter but next year I will address the problem. Lange Originals out of Utah make a quick latch system for hardtops, check them out.

Speaking of fastening on a hardtop.....I'm about to put one on my new 4WD fiberglass body. There's no way to get under the lip to put nuts on. Has anybody put one on a glass body? I was thinking of using 1/4" lag screws to screw into the fiberglass, but not sure what is inside there.

I put some weather striping on my windsheild frame and don't put any screws in. When the hard top is bolted on in the back, it can't blow off. Been wheenlin and driving it to work for about 5 years with out any problems.

I have an old Koenig hard top on my 63 CJ5 and I use clamps from a truck topper. they are about 3 - 5 bucks each. I have 2 on each side and they work just fine. i keep a check on the tightness, but they haven't loosened up on me and i have been using them for about 5 months. I just drilled the five holes into the windshield frame and top and bolt them together with stainless steel bolts and nuts. It might work for you. it works for me.
