I need to get a Jeepster transported here from the West coast, other than driving it. I'm hoping some of you folks have already done this and can save me some time searching the web. I think the best way would be to find space on a longhaul auto carrier, but have no idea how to locate one. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked into Auto-trains? I don't know about east-west, but north-south has Auto-trains (pull car on train, sit back and enjoy the ride)

Check U-haul and Ryder trucks(and others). They sometimes need trucks taken back to popular move-away locations from popular move-too locations. Just don't tell them you are hauling the Jeepster.
Another thought is to check local trucking companies. They sometimes haul one way and need a back-haul and might do it cheap.

Hmmm... I have a car about 40 miles north of Boston waiting for me... I live in LA. Transporting costs about 1200... how bout we both rent Uhauls, pick up each others cars, and meet 1/2 cross the country? What do you think? /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif Leave late Fri night, home by monday night... no sleep! Forget it, no Fiat is worth the trouble... /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Good luck!

Thanks for everybody's advice. The Hemming Motor news didn't turn up any leads, but I think I was looking in the wrong place. However, I did find this site http://www.movecars.com/ which lists auto transport companies by state. Most provide next day free quotes if you fill out an on-line form. So far, it looks like it will cost $950 in an open trailer. I may be able to save by waiting for stand-by, which I can do in this case. A closed trailer cost more I'm sure. Most won't let you load any parts or other items in the car, due to the potential for loose parts flying around, and the added weight. At any rate, I thought I'd follow-up for all those who responded and tell you what I found out. Thanks again for your help,

Scott
