I'm looking to get a NV4500 for my 77 CJ7. I'm trying to get the best price possible. I've heard that there is a place in Southern
Cal that has NEW, not rebuilt ones with the adapter for a Dana 300 transfercase for around $1,500??? any ideas who they are
or where else to look?

Why don't you go to your local Dodge dealer and ask what it would cost to buy a new 5 speed for your 3/4 ton Dodge truck. It
is bolt compatible with a Dana 300. A/A makes their own adapter, but the stock Dodge one will work. A/A probably has the
clocking different a few other things, not sure what.

You need to know what you are buying. The Dodge version has a full-syncronize reverse and there are
two different 1st gear ratios the desired one being 6.34:1 the other being something around 5.61. You
can get the non-syncro reverse with the higher gear ratio cheaper because it's not in as much demand.
Don't forget to figure driveshafts in the budget. The front has to be longer and the rear has to be shorter.

You need to specify the light duty Dodge NV-4500, the others use a larger output shaft, and won't adapt to a Dana 300 or the NV 231. As far as the reverse synchro goes, all Dodges use fully synchro boxes, and only the early GM ones used the 6.34 granny and all Dodge boxes were of the 5.61 models. P52108195 is the number for a '98 Ram with a 5.9 liter 4x4.

try Discount Parts exchange in Ohio. I bought mine from there, and am very happy with it. They built me a GM version with the 6.34:1 first with a syncronized reverse. give them a call and ask them about it. 1-888-440-2673

if you want more info from me, just send me an e mail
