Howdy. I know this is probably a dumb question, but what is the difference between a hawse fairlead and a roller fairlead on a winch? 4wheelparts has the Warn M8000 on sale, with free shipping, and there's almost a $200 difference in price between the 2 leads.
Also, is that a good winch? I don't need anything super-heavy, but want something that will work when I need it.
Thanks,

Hawse fairlead is a rounded off rectangular opening with smooth radii (??) to allow the cable to move without getting cut. A roller fairlead has rollers on all four sides to guide the cable. It offers less resistance and a longer cable life, or so I've been told.

There must be a lot of room to play on prices for these things if he can beat what Durango advertises. Windrock shows M8000 price of $684.10 + $54.95 s&h for a total price of $739.05. Durango shows $599.00 including s&h. Let us know what you find out. I'm in the market for a winch too as mine did the disappearing act.

I would check E-Bay also!
I picked a new M8000 from Serco Sales on E-Bay and payed $525.00 shipped to my door.
Found a new roller farelead on E-Bay for $40.00
Doesn't hurt to check there.
