Three grove pulleys are for later model 304's I believe they would run the air pump and AC. The pulleys are held to the ballancer by bolts. If you have removed the bolts and they are still together it's due to rust/dirt/slop etc. they can be seperated but don't damage the ballancer.

the rear two belt grooves drive the alternater and a/c compressor (both belts). the front groove drives the power steering pump. all three belts also drive the water pump. the air pump runs from a short belt from the second groove on the power steering pump to the air pump. hope this helps.

If you want to run a york compressor keep the 3 groove crank pulley. Also get the 3 groove waterpump pulley. On my 304 the 2 groove waterpump pulley would not fit with the 3 groove crank pulley. Also get an alternator with a 2 groove pulley.
The first two grooves (from the engine out) are for the waterpump/AC/alternator.
The third is for the power steering pump. The air pump runs off the second groove on the power steering pump.
