The gages are all messed up on my 90 Samurai the temp gage goes up as the zuk warms up but is does not stop (goes all the way up) but the zuk is not over heating???? The gas gage is on half but there is no or verry little gas in it? I replaced the temp sender and it did not help! Any sgestions?
Thanks:

Rodney, If your 100% sure it's not overheating put a ground strap between the head and the firewall. Inaccurate fuel gages are often the sending unit in the tank. HTH

If you have a good ground from the motor to the frame and the sending unit reads the correct ohms, than the problem most likely lays in the FUEL GAUGE. Yea, the fuel gauge. For some reason, only the guys in Japan know, Suzuki tied the power to the temperature gauge thru the fuel gauge. See the attached image of the fuel gauge.

If the fuel gauge reads wrong, that may be the sending unit.

IMHO, Bobcat.

Test Temp
Disconnect wire termination plug from sending unit make
open circuit input to gauge turn key on.

Monitor gauge Temp:

1. If pointer does not move or zero then bad send unit.

2.If gauge reads value then bad wires and or gauge shorted

Gas gauge:
Poor tank to vehicle grounding, float stuck or bent
"off road thing", slide wire shorted out, they use way
to small of wire on that.

On my 87 Sam gas gauge never worked remove sending unit
found it to be non-linear slide wire device which I sought
replacement for at this board 2 weeks ago,got big zero
reply which was great as Zuk slide wire very poor
I replace slide wire with $3 resistive 5 Watt wire wound
high accuracy pot., been using for about week now it is
very nice.

I had the exact same problem on my 88.5. And, as stated, replacing the fuel guage fixed the problem. I was able to take mine out of a 86 (different looking) cluster, and that fixed it.

Note that the guages face in different directions for Tach/no Tach clusters, and also the connectors are slightly longer.
