I may have oportunity to buy some tires that are 14.5" wide for cheap. If I am able to get them I will be buying new wheels to accomodate the monster meats. How much backspacing is too much? I am thinking of going with 2.5" of backspacing to accomodate steering but am concerned that I may be leaving my brakes a little bare. Any help is greatly apreciated as always. NORM

i wouldnt worry about your brakes too much, but your wheel bearings and esp balljoints wont like running a 14.5 tire with only 2.5" BS. i dont know if there is such a thing as too much BS as far as steering angles are concerned, but you do start to run into the radarms and swaybar (what swaybar?
) with a lot of BS. I think Burned is running 14.5's with 2.5" BS so he can probably help you better. The tire scrub gets all weird when you get so far outboard of the balljoint radius... even my 35x12.5's with a decent amount of BS steer very strange compared to when i had the 31's. You get used to it so i guess it's not a big deal, but the P/S pump probably wont like you very much

give me a week and i can tell you.
im not running them at choice.
i have 14.50's and they are fine on a 10 inch rim.
the mor eyou cpase you tires out like that the more its gonna eat balljoint and it will hit the fenders more than a 15x10 with 4 inch backspacing.

give me a week or two weeks and i will have first hand knowledge.

i might add that my 15x10's with 14.50's on them with 4 inch backspacing if tjust fine, and they barely ever touch my raduis arms.

the less backspacig you have, the more troubles your gonna have up front. i anticipate more trimming all around on my truck when i go to 2.5BS, i will do the swap as soon as UPS drops off my wheels.

15x10's with 2.5 BS suck!
i dont like them ,but ihave to run them. 15x10's with 4.25 backspacing work fine with 14.50 tires.

OK, so am I getting this right, you run the 15's for now because that's the wheels you presently want to keep. they die, you switch to 16 x10, 8 lug? I know there are lots of 16 x 8 choices don't know about 10's, change backspacing, all ok?
