Backseat don\'t fold down all the way

I never thought it was supposed to, but my friend with a Jeep says his does. When I fold the back seat forward it stays at like a 40 degree angle and there isnt anything in its way. Can someone give me a list of things I can do/check to get it to fold all the way down?? I really want this fixed. Thanks.

It isn't hitting the front seats, I'm not an idiot. I think it has something to do with the thing it pivots on. I'm gonna check it out later today.

Re: Backseat don\'t fold down all the way

There isn't mich to the fold down set-up. Make sure that the bottom seat cushion is folded all the way up. I am pretty sure yours also has the removeable bottom seat cushion. On the passenger side there is a knob that if you push it, the cushion should pull out of it's pivot location. Yank it out and then try and put the seat back down. There isn't much else in the way. If that doesn't work, unbolt the seat back and see if there is a burr or something that it's catching on. Good luck, Taz.

Here is how you fix that if no one elses suggestions work. First open the tailgate. Then put a pillow on the backrest of the seat (which you are trying to fold down). Next remove the butt rest. After that skate, skateboard, run, ride a motorcyle, ride a bike, ride on someones hood, etc. About 3 feet from the bumper leap headfirst towards the seat. be sure to hit it at the top to maximize the force. It should fold down then. If it doesnt it probably isnt worth worrying about.

P.S. wear a helmet

You guys are a bunch of dorks, but im stupid so now you can have a few more laughs at my expense, no big deal. I didnt realize that you had to pull the part you sit on up before you put the backrest down. Ya I'm stupid, whatever. Most cars dont have the pull up butt thing so I'm not used to it. Go ahead laugh it up I can tell you want to some more.

Not only does it move forward...but it comes out too! Both in and out are as easy as up. Handy thing to remember when you need just a little more room.Mine spends alot of trips home on the roof after finding a good load of wood & such.

I kinda figured that might be what the problem was, just didn't want to come right out and say it so as not to make you look silly. At least now you know where to find the jack......./wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

I knew the seat came up but didnt realize the other fit in nicely, I already had to use the jack once to fix a flat. Dont I have to take out the bolts to remove the backseat backsupport thing completely?
